23 Aug All Points Gives Back to the Community through Mentoring Small Companies
Part 1 of a 2 part Series
August 23, 2021 – Corporate community service can be articulated, implemented, and fulfilled in many ways; All Points provides community service through mentoring small companies with emergent intellectual property who are also interested to serve as a federal government contractor. Paying it forward is how the saying goes, and All Points chooses to invest in small companies and the federal government simultaneously. Through mentor-protégé relationships, All Points helps small companies avoid some of the pitfalls of growth, assist with industry best practices, and learn the government contracting methodology which will provide the DoD, NASA, and other federal agencies another small company that can provide needed services.
All Points understands the benefits of supporting small businesses through a mentor-protégé relationship. All Points was the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA’s) first protégé, mentored by Boeing. All Points continues to be a subcontractor for Boeing, has been selected as a Boeing Preferred Supplier, and has won their coveted Supplier of the Year award twice. In 2016, All Points became the first MDA mentor that was a previous protégé. All Points mentored Mission Multiplier Consulting, LLC, a HUBZone company based in Huntsville, AL. As a mentor, All Points assisted Mission Multiplier in every aspect of business. During this period, All Points also transferred technical experience to Mission Multiplier.
As a result of this successful relationship, Mission Multiplier’s staff grew 1050%, and they have been recognized as a top company in Huntsville, AL. The DoD and the defense industrial base benefitted from the relationship through the two companies’ combined capabilities and expertise, creating a cutting-edge cyber lab and innovative cyber products that are helping defense contractors prepare for CMMC certification today.
Since concluding the mentor-protégé period under the MDA program in 2019, All Points continues its relationship with Mission Multiplier. It is part of All Points’ strategic plan to not only mentor companies like Mission Multiplier, but to develop long term partnerships well after the completion of a Mentor-Protégé Agreement. For example, Mission Multiplier has participated in a few subcontracting opportunities with All Points, providing them with strong past performance and valuable experience—especially in the DoD market—and opportunities for growth as a protégé from the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program. Today, All Points is an approved mentor in the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program and the All Small Mentor-Protégé Program (ASMPP) through the SBA.
All Points has provided support to other small businesses in the last 12 months. A start-up business in Chicago recently reached out to All Points for assistance with writing a Broad Area Announcement (BAA) proposal as well as transfer of All Points’ technical knowledge as they developed the introduction of their 3-D additive manufacturing technology to the DoD. This company won the BAA. All Points’ technical team will remain engaged with this small business to accelerate the development of their technology.
In yet another example, All Points serves as a mentor to Optimized Technical Solutions (OTS) of San Antonio, Texas, through the SBA ASMPP. All Points provides assistance as OTS develops additional capability to serve as a government contractor. Toward this end, All Points’ team provides OTS with the technical and business knowledge to accelerate business development as well as provides direct subcontracting, partnering, and teaming opportunities.
All Points is dedicated to investing in mentor-protégé programs and emerging businesses. “One of the many challenges faced by small and emerging businesses is access to growth opportunities at the same time they are maturing their business models. By providing mentoring through both business knowledge transfer as well as partnering support on bids to deliver critical technical capabilities to the DOD and Federal sector, All Points is able to assist them in addressing both challenges while they continue to deliver high quality services to their government customers,” according to Kevin Hoey, Business Development, All Points’ National Capital Region.
All Points currently provides technical and engineering expertise on contracts as a prime and sub-contractor that support DoD, NASA, and other federal agencies. With All Points introducing our protégés to these customers and mentoring them on how to work with these agencies, it will improve the protégé’s ability to be a solid competitor in both civilian and defense agencies. All Points leverages their “network” to assist protégés in establishing key business relationships and direct subcontracting opportunities, critical to growth and success.
